“Rangers” fans peacefully enjoying the match in Lyon are brutally attacked by French riot police

My wife has often told me that she sometimes foresees things that are going to happen in the future. On occasion, she has been uncannily accurate in what she has predicted. Call it intuition, listening to your gut or just pure luck, but it has happened.

Today, I believe it has rubbed off on me, because I’m going to predict events that will happen two days from now and I’ll wager I’m going to be pretty accurate in my prediction.

Just yesterday, the French interior minister, Geráld Darmanin, decided that it might be a smart idea to protect the good citizens of Lyon from a certain fanbase. I’m assuming he did this so that they could enjoy, in peace, the centuries old Festival of Light in their historic city.

He was quoted as saying that this particular fanbase was, ‘frequently a source of disturbance to public order’. A fairly accurate summation in my opinion and one I’m sure that was met with general sighs of relief all round by the citizens of Lyon.

However, in a strange turn of events today, Mr. Darmanin has changed his mind and decided to once again allow Scotland’s shame to descend on his city. They will now be allowed to attend the match against Lyon at Groupama stadium. One wonders what brought about this turn of events….

I’m not sure if Mr. Darmanin is aware of Sevco’s penchant for settling scores and waging vendettas against those who have offended them and their delicate sensibilities. Future prediction no. 1 …… he is about to find out.

You see, the poor dears from Sevconia are not used to having people outside of Fair Caledonia using the sort of descriptive terms Mr. Darmanin did yesterday to justify banning them from Lyon’s home ground.

Because they NEVER hear such nonsense in Fair Caledonia, this sort of offensive language causes them to become very enraged little bears. When a large group of very enraged little bears descends on any European city, it usually doesn’t end well.

Now call me psychic if you wish, but I believe that the headline you see at the beginning of this article might just appear in any number of our totally unbiased news media titles. Because of course, they know the Sevco fanbase very well and they also know that they never go to away venues looking for trouble. Future prediction no. 2 ….. TROUBLE will somehow find them on Thursday night.

When Lyon visited Glasgow recently, they and their team coach were treated to some wonderful Glasgow wit. The fact that they were offended by said Glasgow wit, well, those boring French, they have no sense of humour, do they? If they didn’t appreciate that wit, they will made to very much appreciate the form of wit that is about to be visited upon them on Thursday night.

I really do hope that Mr. Darmanin does not regret his about turn today. Sadly, I’m none too confident in this ending well. I do hope the poor dears from Sevconia that have been so offended by his recent words, do not end up on the wrong end of a French riot policeman’s baton. Future prediction no.3 ….. some poor elderly Sevconian in a wheelchair will end up being violently attacked by those nasty French riot policemen.

And finally, future prediction no. 4 ….. on Friday morning the Scottish mainstream sports media will lead with how Sevco fans were brutally attacked by French riot police while they were minding their own business in Lyon, mingling peacefully with the locals and enjoying the Festival of light.

The rest of us intelligent people will know what the real story was…….

  1. A good strategy from the French authorities; contain the trouble to the stadium and let the world see it live.
Your predictions/psychic powers are oddly shared by many thousands of ‘ordinary’ people….hahaha!
I’d lay very short odds that the Friday morning headlines having already been written. As for their publication, that depends entirely on the behaviour of the travelling fans.
    Odds of that going well?
    The book is closed.

  2. Uncanny that man, we’ve seen this script all too often and FIFA and UEFA have to bar them from their competitions fines are of no consequence in the grand scheme of things. It’s either shape up or ship out and give them a 10 year ban that’ll soon tober them up, they’re mutants and should be treated as such and it should be done because they are desperate for the Champions League money and not getting that would kill them for sure.
